Amy’s Take on Oak Hollow

Oak Hollow is one of the easiest ways to get into Anna around $300,000 with a pool in the neighborhood and an elementary school you can walk to. Because it was built over 13 years, the homes aren’t all the same age. A 2002 house and a 2015 house on the same street are very different purchases, especially when it comes to roofs and HVAC, so I check the year built on every home we look at.

Early Phase or Late Phase? Why the Year Built Matters Here

Oak Hollow went up over 13 years, so the year built is the first number I look at on any listing here. Two houses that look the same from the street can be very different purchases.

RoofAn original roof would be 17 to 24 years old, so it has likely been replaced or is due11 to 16 years old; ask about hail claims

Your Real Monthly Cost

On a $300,000 home at Anna’s combined rate of about $1.99 per $100, taxes run about $5,970 a year, or roughly $500 a month, before exemptions. HOA dues add about $30 a month, and I haven’t seen a PID here. Once you file your homestead exemption, the first $140,000 of value is exempt from Anna ISD school taxes, a figure Texas voters raised from $100,000 in November 2025. Schools

Oak Hollow is in Anna ISD. Sue Evelyn Rattan Elementary on Ferguson Parkway is about a third of a mile from parts of the neighborhood, and high school students attend Anna High School. Listings disagree on the middle school, and Anna ISD changed attendance zones for 2026-27, so confirm the assignment for the exact address with the district.

Getting Around

Oak Hollow is minutes from US-75. McKinney is a short drive south, and downtown Dallas is about 45 miles.

Living Near Sue Evelyn Rattan Elementary

Being able to walk a child to elementary school is a real perk, and it is one of the main reasons young families look at Oak Hollow. The trade-off is school-zone traffic on and near Ferguson Parkway at drop-off and pickup. If you are looking at a home close to the school, drive by at those times before you write an offer.

Oak Hollow vs. Creekside

These are Anna’s two most common starter-home neighborhoods, and buyers often tour both.

Who Oak Hollow Fits

It fits first-time buyers who want a neighborhood pool around $300,000, young families who want to walk to elementary school, and buyers who would rather have a newer 2010s home without paying new-construction prices.

It doesn’t fit buyers who want a resort-style amenity center, larger lots or a builder warranty. For those, look at Villages of Hurricane Creek.

Two Honest Cautions

Check the year built. With homes from 2002 to 2015, two similar-looking houses can be 13 years apart on the roof, HVAC and water heater.
